UXD107 · Final Project: Designing a Product Experience End to End
About Course
Apply the full UX/UI process to one real product problem, from research and structure to a tested, iterated high-fidelity prototype, and present it as a professional portfolio case study.
Who it is for
Learners who have completed the UX/UI & AI-Assisted Product Design courses and want a complete case study that shows their process and judgment.
Prerequisites
UXD101 through UXD106, including experience with research, wireframing, UI systems, usability testing and AI-assisted workflows.
What you will be able to do
- Frame a product design problem with clear user, business and success criteria
- Execute research, information architecture, UI design and prototyping for one coherent product flow
- Validate the design with at least five participants and iterate based on measured results
- Present a concise, evidence-based case study that explains decisions, trade-offs and AI use
Lessons
- Lesson 1 · Project brief and scope
- Lesson 2 · Milestones and method
- Lesson 3 · Quality checklist and common mistakes
- Lesson 4 · Deliverables, rubric and submission
Lab: End-to-end product design case study
You select a real product problem, ideally for a small business or community organization you can reach, and run the full process: research, synthesis, structure, wireframes, UI kit, prototype, usability test and iteration. You document each step as you go and assemble the result into a case study in Figma or Google Slides, exported as PDF.
Free tools: Figma and FigJam free plan, Google Forms, Google Sheets and the free tier of an AI assistant
Assessed assignment
Submit a case study of 12 to 18 pages or slides, a view link to your Figma file and a link to the final prototype. The case study must cover the problem and goals, research and insights, persona and journey map, information architecture and flows, wireframes, UI system, prototype, usability test results with metrics, the iteration and its effect, and an AI use log with verification notes. Include a short reflection on trade-offs, what you would do next and what you learned. All participant data must be anonymized and shared with consent.
| Criterion | Weight | What excellent work looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Problem framing and research | 25% | The problem is specific, goals and success metrics are defined, and insights are grounded in real research with clear evidence. |
| Structure and interaction design | 20% | IA, flows and wireframes logically address the insights, cover edge cases and follow mobile-first principles. |
| Visual and system quality | 20% | The UI is consistent, accessible to WCAG AA, built from documented components and polished in detail. |
| Validation, iteration and storytelling | 35% | Testing is well planned and measured, iteration shows clear before-and-after evidence, AI use is transparent and the case study tells a concise, honest story of decisions. |
Portfolio piece
