AIS107 · Final Project: An AI Governance Plan for an Organization
About Course
Bring the program together by building a complete, practical AI governance plan for an organization, covering inventory, risk, privacy, security, responsible AI, policies, oversight and audit.
Who it is for
Learners who have completed the AIS program and want a portfolio-ready plan that shows they can govern AI end to end.
Prerequisites
Complete AIS101 through AIS106; the project reuses outputs from your earlier labs and assignments.
What you will be able to do
- Assess an organization's AI use, risk appetite and obligations and define the plan's scope
- Integrate privacy, security and responsible AI controls into one coherent governance design
- Deliver policies, workflows and assessment templates that staff can actually use
- Present a phased 12-month roadmap with metrics, owners and an assurance plan to leadership
Lessons
- Lesson 1 · Project brief and scope
- Lesson 2 · Milestones and method
- Lesson 3 · Quality checklist and common mistakes
- Lesson 4 · Deliverables, rubric and submission
Lab: Capstone workspace
You work in a single shared folder or free GitHub repository that holds every project file. You choose one of three provided organization profiles (a regional health-services provider, a mid-sized online retailer or a professional-services firm) or describe a comparable fictional one, and you must not use confidential data from a real organization.
Free tools: Google Docs or LibreOffice Writer, Google Sheets or LibreOffice Calc, draw.io, and your outputs from earlier labs (risk register, privacy review, threat model, model card, policy set, audit working papers)
Assessed assignment
Build and submit an AI governance plan for your chosen organization. It must contain an organizational profile and AI inventory, a risk appetite statement and risk register, a governance structure with decision rights, a policy set, an intake and approval workflow with privacy and security review steps, templates for impact assessment and model cards, a monitoring and audit plan, a 12-month roadmap and an executive summary of no more than two pages. All parts must fit together: every high risk should have a control, an owner and a way to verify it.
| Criterion | Weight | What excellent work looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Context, inventory and risk | 25% | The inventory is complete, the risk appetite is explicit and the register prioritizes risks with justified ratings. |
| Integrated governance design | 30% | Roles, policies and workflows integrate privacy, security and responsible AI and are proportionate to the organization. |
| Usability of tools and templates | 20% | Intake forms, assessment templates and policies are clear, specific and ready for staff to use. |
| Roadmap, metrics and assurance | 25% | The roadmap is phased and realistic, metrics are measurable and the audit plan verifies key controls. |
Portfolio piece
A complete AI governance plan with inventory, risk register, policies, workflows, templates and a 12-month roadmap.
