BLK107 · Final Project: A Blockchain Solution Proposal for a Business
About Course
Bring the whole program together by writing an evidence-based blockchain solution proposal for a real or realistic business, complete with a test-network proof of concept, risk analysis and an honest recommendation.
Who it is for
Learners who have completed BLK101 to BLK106 and want a portfolio-ready capstone that shows sound technical and business judgment.
Prerequisites
BLK101 to BLK106, or equivalent experience with smart contracts, digital identity and Web3 risk.
What you will be able to do
- Frame a multi-party business problem and justify, with evidence, whether a blockchain or a simpler alternative fits
- Design a solution architecture that separates on-chain and off-chain data and names every trust assumption
- Build and test a proof of concept on the Remix VM or a public test network
- Present a proposal with costs, risks, compliance analysis and a phased roadmap that a decision-maker can act on
Lessons
- Lesson 1 · Project brief and scope
- Lesson 2 · Milestones and method
- Lesson 3 · Quality checklist and common mistakes
- Lesson 4 · Deliverables, rubric and submission
Lab: Proof-of-concept workspace
You set up a GitHub repository that holds your contract, tests, diagrams and proposal. You build a minimal proof of concept that demonstrates the single most important claim of your proposal, such as shared status tracking or credential verification. Every transaction runs on test infrastructure with no real value.
Free tools: Remix IDE (Remix VM or Sepolia test network), GitHub free, Google Colab, draw.io or Figma free for diagrams
Assessed assignment
Write a 10 to 15 page proposal for a business of your choice that has a multi-party record-keeping or verification problem. Include the problem statement, stakeholder map, decision checklist results, solution architecture, proof-of-concept evidence, cost estimate, risk register, compliance analysis and a phased roadmap. Record a 5-minute narrated screen recording walking through the proof of concept. End with a clear recommendation, which may be not to use blockchain if the evidence points that way.
| Criterion | Weight | What excellent work looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Problem framing and fit analysis | 25% | Problem, stakeholders and trust gaps are specific; the fit decision is evidence-based and compares a simpler alternative. |
| Architecture and proof of concept | 30% | Architecture is coherent, keeps personal data off-chain and the tested proof of concept demonstrates the key claim. |
| Risk, compliance and cost | 25% | Risks, controls, regulatory questions and costs are realistic, specific and linked to the design. |
| Communication and roadmap | 20% | The proposal is clear for executives, free of hype and gives a phased roadmap with decision points. |
Portfolio piece
A complete blockchain solution proposal with a GitHub repository, tested proof of concept and narrated walkthrough.
