  • Evaluate tools with a weighted selection matrix covering cost, limits, data export and lock-in.
  • Map a simple business process and identify where a no-code tool could help.

Lessons

  • Lesson 1 · What no-code and low-code really mean
  • Lesson 2 · The main tool categories and their use cases
  • Lesson 3 · Choosing tools with a selection matrix
  • Lesson 4 · Lab and assignment

Lab: Process map and tool selection matrix

You will map a manual process from a sample cleaning-services company, mark the steps that waste the most time and shortlist three no-code tools that could help. Using a weighted selection matrix, you will compare them on fit, free-plan limits, learning curve, data export and lock-in and write a short recommendation.

Free tools: diagrams.net (free) and Google Sheets (free); free plans of tools such as Glide, Softr, Airtable and n8n for exploration

Assessed assignment

Choose a manual or spreadsheet-based process in a real or realistic small business, such as booking requests, inventory counts or customer onboarding. Map the current process, identify at least two pain points and shortlist three tools from different categories or vendors. Score them in a weighted selection matrix and write a half-page recommendation that includes the risks of your choice and how you would export the data if you later switched tools.

Criterion Weight What excellent work looks like
Process map 25% The map shows actors, steps, handoffs and decisions clearly, and the pain points are specific and measurable.
Tool research 25% Three relevant tools are described accurately, including current free-plan limits checked on the vendor's site.
Selection matrix 30% Criteria and weights fit the business; scores are justified, and the result follows from the matrix.
Recommendation and risks 20% The recommendation is clear and names lock-in, data export and growth risks with practical mitigations.

Portfolio piece

A process map and weighted tool selection matrix with a written recommendation that shows how you evaluate no-code tools for a business need.

Self-paced, 12-month access. Questions are answered in writing through the student panel. A completion record is issued when you finish the course.
