About Course

Build a clear, hype-free understanding of quantum computing and run real circuits on simulators and free cloud hardware.

This self-paced program takes you from why quantum computing matters to writing and running your own quantum circuits. You learn only the math you actually need, then qubits, superposition, entanglement, gates, circuits and the best-known algorithms. Labs use free tools such as Google Colab, Qiskit and the IBM Quantum free tier, so no purchases are required. You finish by writing a realistic quantum readiness report for an organization, including post-quantum cryptography planning.

44 hours · 7 courses, from Explore to Advance, ending with a final project · Certificate of completion · 12-month access

Who it is for

IT professionals, analysts, developers, students and technology leaders who want a practical, honest grounding in quantum computing. A curiosity for math and basic computer skills are enough to start.

Prerequisites

High-school algebra and basic computer skills; the program teaches the rest, and Python experience is helpful for the Advance courses.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain what quantum computers can and cannot do today, separating realistic timelines from marketing claims
  • Use vectors, matrices and probability to predict the results of simple quantum circuits
  • Build, simulate and run quantum circuits in Qiskit, including on free IBM Quantum hardware
  • Assess an organization's quantum readiness and plan a migration to post-quantum cryptography

Course Content

QTM101 · Why Quantum Computing Matters (4 h)
A clear, hype-free introduction to what quantum computers are, what problems they may solve better than classical computers, where the technology stands in 2026 and why organizations should already care about post-quantum security.

  • Lesson 1 · What a quantum computer is
  • Lesson 2 · Where quantum computing could help, and where it will not
  • Lesson 3 · The state of the field and the security clock
  • Lesson 4 · Lab and assignment
  • QTM101 Assessment · Why Quantum Computing Matters

QTM102 · The Math You Need: Vectors, Matrices and Probability (4 h)
Learn exactly the math quantum computing uses, and no more: vectors, complex numbers, matrices and probability, practiced step by step in a free Python notebook.

QTM103 · Qubits, Superposition and Entanglement (6 h)
Work hands-on with single and multiple qubits: visualize states on the Bloch sphere, measure in different bases, create all four Bell states and see how noise affects real quantum information.

QTM104 · Quantum Gates and Circuits (6 h)
Learn the standard quantum gate set, how multi-qubit gates create entanglement and logic, and how circuits are compiled to the native gates and connectivity of real hardware.

QTM105 · Programming Quantum Circuits with Qiskit (8 h)
Write professional Qiskit code with the Qiskit patterns workflow: build parameterized circuits, optimize them with preset pass managers, execute them with the Sampler and Estimator primitives on simulators and free IBM Quantum hardware, and post-process results with error mitigation.

QTM106 · Quantum Algorithms and Real-World Applications (8 h)
Study the algorithms that define quantum computing, from the quantum Fourier transform, phase estimation and Shor's algorithm to Grover search and variational methods, and assess realistically where they apply in industry and security.

QTM107 · Final Project: A Quantum Computing Readiness Report (8 h)
Apply everything from the program to write a professional quantum computing readiness report for a real or realistic organization, covering opportunities, a hands-on proof of concept, post-quantum security risk and a phased roadmap.
